Cooking with Ringo
Chef Ringo Presents:
Lettuce Worm Salad
Ingredients:
1 leaf of lettuce
1 grape
7 or 8 Sunflower kernels
A pinch of powdered vitamins
Chopped crickets (optional)
Bringing you only the finest in Starling cuisine
Preparation:

Crush sunflower kernels with back of spoon and set aside.
Roll lettuce leaf into a tube & slice thinly into long narrow worm-like
strips. Next, chop grape into bite-sized pieces.

Combine grape and lettuce worms, sprinke with vitamins, add crushed
sunflower and toss gently.

Top with cricket croutons and serve.

Be sure to remove any leftovers after a couple hours to avoid spoiling.

Variations: substitute your favorite fruit, blueberries are very good, and you can also try mealworms instead of crickets. Crushed peanuts work nicely also.

Serving suggestion:
My mom serves it up in an empty single serve jello snack cup, which she poked a hole in near the top of one side, and used a bread twist tie to secure it to the inside of my cage by one of my perches for easy removal & cleaning. You can also use  an empty single serve cheese whiz cup, or any other small snack size bird dish.

** for those of you also getting Skipio's, you can add the leftover "powdery" stuff, that      way less of it gets wasted, and it mixes quite well with the lettuce.
This is one of my summertime cooooool favorites, it goes very well with just about all other types of cuisine, and the variations are endless. Happy Feeking!!
(oops hope I spelled that right!)
